Doodles for Lunch

The hand studies would slowly change into character and creature concepts.  Later I would start playing around with asymmetrical design in the body (not much of that seen here).  I would base it on human anatomy first then alter the spine and everything else.
I thought about how the design would stand in terms of balance - creating leverage with a heavier limb could work (kinda like those big-armed crabs) and maybe create an interesting movement.

Hands on a Train

Commuting by train use to eat a lot out of my time so I thought I'd put it to good use and practice hands.

I started doing quick studies of my hands (mostly my left) for about a month.  I would start by drawing the one hand pose multiple times then the last drawing would be exaggerated or stylized based on my previous sketches.

I also tried studies with progressive movements in the pose.

Character Development

Here I was still figuring out the look of the character.  I tried Frankensteining different animal attributes - frog, monkey and other agile animals to help develop his anatomy.

Character Movement

Here's a rough walk cycle I tried tonight of the big guy.  In separate layers, I did the blue first to get my leg positions and perspective down, then black to refine the weight in the legs, then red to sort the arms and head positions.
